NASHVILLE (AP) — The singer of “(I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden” has died. Lynn Anderson’s family says she passed away at a hospital in Nashville, on Thursday. A publicist says the cause of death was cardiac arrest. Anderson was 67. Anderson was the child of country songwriters and was a teen equestrian champion. She first hit the national spotlight as a singer on “The Lawrence Welk Show” in the late 1960s. She said in a 1987 Associated Press interview “Rose Garden” was such a hit in 1971 because it touched on emotions as the country came out of the Vietnam War.
