SHAWNEE, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma attorneys are questioning whether a judge has violated state law by sealing the court documents related to the divorce of Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. The Oklahoman reports a law passed last year requires a judge to seal normally public records if a compelling privacy interest outweighs the public’s interest in the records, and the judge must make public any sealing order. The order to seal the Shelton-Lambert divorce is not public. Former state Representative Aaron Stiles says he wrote that law after seeing cases in which a judge sealed divorce records to protect their friends. Pottawatomie County associate district judge John Gardner handled the case. He could not be reached for comment.
