NASHVILLE (AP) — Ashley Monroe is honored whenever anyone tells her she sounds like Dolly Parton. What blew her away is when Dolly Parton said that. Monroe says Parton wrote her a letter before she even had a record deal and noticed the similarities. That letter is now part of an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame about heritage acts and new artists. Monroe says she sounds like Parton because they’re both from east Tennessee, or maybe they’re distantly related.
